250KM- The Polish record of the length of WiFi connection.Print
On the 27June 2015, the students of the Technical University of Wroclaw, using equipment manufactured by Cyberbajt set the record of WiFi connection - The WiFi signal has been sent for a distance of 250km. They set Polish record of the length of radio connection.
By using the professional parabolic antennas DishEter PRO 32 HV Precision of Cyberbajt the Wireless Group set up the wireless link in the frequency of 5GHz. To keep the optical visibility between the joined points, the connection has been set up between the peak of the Mt Wielka Sowa (1015 m above sea level) and the peak of Mt Babia Gora (1725 m above the sea level).
The dual polarized parabolic antenna mounted on the peaks of mountains except a very high gain (32 dBi) necessary to set up this connection, characterized by a very high separation level between the connectors of two orthogonal polarizations. Isolation of over 50 dB in a wide operating band is assured by the use of dualpolarisation radiator in the form of a waveguide of square section with a suitable distribution of metal rods inside the structure. This design of the antenna is able to provide high quality connections even for distance 250 km.
The connection was stable and lasted about 2.5h. During the connection the students carried out a different tests and they made call test on Skype.
