    Introduction:

The producers of wireless devices make typically programme and equipment diversion in order to increase attraction of their products. We can notice such changes at Polish producers: Oslink company – the producer of Osbridge devices and the Themax company - the Raptor devices producer. In case of Raptors, the producer took care of frequent software updates which causing general capacity increases. However the Oslink company went step farther by replacing as used as the WRAP platform up in part devices of Osbridge with new, strong equipment platform based on the Intel XScale IXP422 processor. The whole report are supplemented by devices of American Proxim company - QuickBridge 11a Tsunami which I will try to compare above- mentioned products with.

The devices comparison of getting performance from at the strong and weak signal for point-to-point links is made the report purpose. It will allow for getting to know the most important advantages and faults of equipment tested.
At the beginning a few words about presented devices:

Osbridge 5Gi are dedicated for building wireless point to point type bridges. These devices have integrated panel antennas at 23dBi gain about and relatively narrow beamwidth and are fully adapted for mounting outside the building. The Osbridge is supplied compatible with the 802.3af PoE power supply standard. In the full set we will also receive the UTP cable at about 10 metres length. The 3.23R firmware were used in the test. Including the aggregation of packets were an essential change in the device configuration.

The Osbridge 5Gi devices have been already discussed in our reports, but none of them concerned equipment based on the Intel XScale IXP422 processor. However we encourage to acquaint with our reports, in order to compare performance with the earlier equipment search. Our reports:

    • The QuickBridge.11a Tsunami and Osbridge 5Gi as intended solutions to build long P2P bridges in 5 GHz band frequency.
    • Updated firmware versions for Osbridge 5Gi and 5XLi-V(H) devices.

Raptors 23XR are based on the strong PowerPC processor. As the Osbridge 5Gi have integrated panel antennas at 23dBi gain. These devices are supplied by PoE (incompatible with the 802.3af standard) and are fully adapted for mounting outside the building. In the full set we would not receive the UTP cable. As opposed to the Osbridge 5Gi, the Raptors are able to work in the point- to-multipoint links. The 2.0r9 firmware version were used in the test. The aggregation of packets (default settings) and ACK high rate mode feature were included.

We have already carried the Raptor devices tests out, however firmware uses at present, assures higher performance for devices.

    • The Thelmax ULD Raptor 19 APN device test.
    • The Themax ULD Raptor. Performance of devices.

QuickBridge 11a Tsunami is a set of two devices, prepared fully for mounting outside the building. It were placed two devices, anti- damage protected well: the base station (not to confuse with BSU MP. 11a) and satellite, in large box. The professional 802.3af PoE power supply, the powering cable and the UTP cable at 50 metres about (for device with the PoE power supply connecting) are included for every power pack by. As opposed to devices compared for the QuickBridge 11a, mounting is predicted by very comfortable fixing handle which let for any and very easy regulation for all plains. The 2.2.6 firmware version were used in the test (update software versions do not guarantee such large devices performance or stability).

The report prior of the QuickBridge 11a devices about were concerned on the equipment at older software versions.

    • The QuickBridge.11a Tsunami and Osbridge 5Gi as intended to build long P2P bridges solutions in 5 GHz band frequency.
    • Optimal configuration of Tsunami devices.
