Published in july of 2004 the 802.11i standard compatibled with previous versions has introduced a fundamental modifications sequence, for example separating certification of users from ensuring integrity and data privacy, created by this way reliable and scaleable security architecture which is fit as well home network as large corporate networks. The 802.11i standard concept establishes complement of WEP encryption and IEEE 802.11 certification with:
enhanced certification for wireless station,
management keys algorithm, (the key assigning algorithm),
new mechanism of ensuring integrity, computer security and privacy: CCMP (Counter Mode with CBC-MAC Protocol) and optionally TKIP (Temporal Key Integrity Protocol).
